The annual electricity use of an average household in the UK is 3638kWh (according to the
Energy Saving Trust’s 2012 report). Most houses could have a substantial part of their energy needs provided for by solar PV. For example, using half of the energy from a 4kW array would halve the average energy bill. The table below shows typical annual performance of solar PV arrays on a 35 degree roof angle with no shading:

The price of panels has fallen dramatically since they first came on to the market, and the efficiency of the panels has increased substantially over the years. The government Feed-in-Tariff incentive scheme is available for Solar Photovoltaic (PV) technology. This incentive scheme pays you for every kilowatt-hour of electrical power you generate for a 20 year period — whether you use the electricity in your home, or export it back to the grid. The more of your own free PV electricity you use, the greater the benefit to you. It is an ideal time to invest in solar, as on a south facing roof, it can take less than 12 years to recoup your investment.
“We have just had a 14 panel 3.6KW solar PV system installed by AGMS and just wanted to say what a great job Chris and Andy have done.
From the first contact to completion, AGMS were a great company to do business with.
We had various quotes from other Solar Panel companies but AGMS stood out in terms of the information supplied on the initial quote, to the design, build and final system testing.
Chris designed two separate systems to suit our requirements and budget and then designed a third setup to fit our exact requirements. Communication was excellent throughout the whole process, Chris always kept us up to date with timescales for the delivery of the panels to the scaffolding build.
We would have no hesitation in recommending AGMS. Thank you Chris and Andy (and Kelly the roofer)!”
